HANDS

Photobucket

 A basketball in my hands is worth about $19.
A basketball in Michael Jordan's hands is worth about $33 million.
It depends whose hands it's in.

Photobucket

A baseball in my hands is worth about $6.
A baseball in Mark McGuire's hands is worth $19 million.
It depends on whose hands it's in!

Photobucket

A tennis racket is useless in my hands.
A tennis racket in Venus Williams' hands is a championship winning.
It depends whose hands it's in.

Photobucket

A rod in my hands will keep away a wild animal.
A rod in Moses' hands will part the mighty sea.
It depends whose hands it's in.

Photobucket

A sling shot in my hands is a kid's toy
A sling shot in David's hand is a mighty weapon.
It depends whose hands it's in.

Photobucket

Two fish and 5 loaves of bread in my hands is a couple of fish sandwiches.
Two! fish and 5 loaves of bread in God's hands will feed thousands.
It depends whose hands it's in.

Photobucket

Nails in my hands might produce a birdhouse.
Nails in Jesus Christ's hands will
produce salvation for the entire world.
It depends whose hands it's in.

Photobucket

As you see now it depends whose hands it's in.
So put your concerns, your worries, your fears,

your hopes, your dreams, your families

and your relationships in God's hands because...
It depends whose hands it's in.

Happy Mother's Day

Photobucket

There are times when only a Mother's love
Can understand our tears,
Can soothe our disappoints
And calm all of our fears.

Photobucket

There are times when only a Mother's love
Can share the joy we feel
When something we've dreamed about
Quite suddenly is real.

Photobucket

There are times when only a Mother's faith
Can help us on life's way
And inspire in us the confidence
We need from day to day.

Photobucket

For a Mother's heart and a Mother's faith
And a Mother's steadfast love
Were fashioned by the Angels
And sent from God above.

Me Mudder!

Photobucket

When me prayers were poorly said
Who tucked me in me widdle bed
And spanked me till me arse was red,

 Me Mudder!

 Photobucket

Who took me from me cozy cot
And put me on the ice cold pot
And made me pee when I could not,

Me Mudder!

Photobucket

And when the morning light would come
And in me crib me dribbled some
Who wiped me tiny widdle bum,

Me Mudder!

Photobucket

Who would me hair so neatly part
And hug me gently to her heart
Who sometimes squeezed me till me fart,

Me Mudder!

Photobucket

Who looked at me with eyebrows knit
And nearly have a king size fit
When in me Sunday pants me s*** ,

Me Mudder!

Photobucket

When at night her bed did squeak
Me raised me head to have a peek
Who yelled at me to go to sleep,

Photobucket

Me Fadder!

I hope this keeps ya giggling all day.

MOTHER

MOTHER

Photobucket

The young mother set her foot on the path of life. 'Is
this the long way?' she asked. And the guide said: 'Yes, and the way is hard
And you will be old before you reach the end of it.. But
the end will be better than the beginning.'

But the young mother was happy, and she would not
believe that anything could be better than these years. So she
played with her children, and gathered flowers for
them along the way, and bathed them in the clear streams; and
the sun shone on them, and the young Mother cried,
'Nothing will ever be lovelier than this.'

Then the night came, and the storm, and the path was
dark, and the children shook with fear and cold, and the mother
drew them close and covered them with her mantle, and the children said,
'Mother, we are not afraid, for you are near, and no harm can come.'

And the morning came, and there was a hill ahead, and
the children climbed and grew weary, and the mother was weary.
But at all times she said to the children,' A little patience and we are there.'
So the children climbed, and when they reached the top
they said, 'Mother, we would not have done it without you.'

And the mother, when she lay down at night looked up
at the stars and said, 'This is a better day than the last, for my
children have learned fortitude in the face of hardness.

Yesterday I gave them courage.
Today, I've given them strength.'

And the next day came strange clouds which darkened
the earth, clouds of war and hate and evil, and the children groped
and stumbled, and the mother said: 'Look up. Lift your eyes to the light.
' And the children looked and saw above the clouds
an everlasting glory, and it guided them beyond the
darkness. And that night the Mother said,
'This is the best day of all, for
I have shown my children God.'

And the children said, 'You will always walk with us,
Mother, even when you have gone through the gates.'
And they stood and watched her as she went on alone, and the gates
closed after her. And they said: 'We cannot see her
but she is with us still. A Mother like ours is more than a memory. She
is a living presence.......'

Your Mother is always with you.... She's the whisper
of the leaves as you walk down the street; she's the smell of bleach
in your freshly laundered socks; she's the cool hand
on your brow when you're not well. Your Mother lives
inside your laughter. And she's crystallized in every tear drop.
She's the place you came from, your first home; and
she's the map you follow with every step you take. She's your first love
and your first heartbreak, and nothing on earth can
separate you.

Not time, not space... not even death!

MAY WE NEVER TAKE OUR MOTHERS FOR GRANTED...

HERE'S TO THE GIRLS!!!

HERE'S TO THE GIRLS!!!

Photobucket

What's so poignant about this picture? Well, it shows a line of little girls holding hands facing the immensity of ocean waves.
Alone they might be washed away, but together they stand strong.
Thank you each for holding my hand somewhere along the way when I was facing a wave of my own. I hope you will reach for my hand when your own wave threatens.
  All of us girls..
Old and young...
Near and far...
Hold special memories of good times we've shared.
We've had our share of hard times when our friends were there to make us feel better..
We've shared...
our hearts
our time
our secrets
our fears
our hopes
and our dreams.

Let us never break the chain of friends!

Being A Mother

Photobucket

May 11th  will be Mother's Day in Canada.

BEING A MOTHER

After 17 years of marriage, my wife wanted me to
Take another woman out to dinner and a movie. She

Said, 'I love you, but I know this other woman loves
You and would love to spend some time with you.'
* * *
The other woman that my wife wanted me to visit
Was my MOTHER, who has been alone for 20 years,
But the demands of my work and my two boys had
Made it possible to visit her only occasionally.
* * *
That night I called to invite her to go out for
Dinner and a movie.
* * *
'What's wrong, aren't you well,' she asked?
* * *
My mother is the type of woman who suspects that a
late night call or a surprise invitation is a sign
Of bad news.
* * *
'I thought it would be pleasant to spend some
time with you,' I responded. 'Just the two of us.'
She thought about it for a moment, and then said,
'I would like that very much.'
* * *
That Friday after work, as I drove over to pick
her up I was a bit nervous.

When I arrived at her
house, I noticed that she, too, seemed to be nervous
about our date. She waited in the door. She had curled her hair and was wearing the dress that she had worn to celebrate her last
Birthday on November 19th.
* * *
She smiled from a face that was as radiant as an
angels. 'I told my friends that I was going to go
out with my son, and they were impressed,' she said,
as she got into that new white van.

'They can't wait to hear  about our date'.
* * *
We went to a restaurant that, although not
elegant, was very nice and cozy. My mother took my
arm as if she were the First Lady. After we sat
down, I had to read the menu. Her eyes could only
read large print. Half way through the entries, I
lifted my eyes and saw Mom sitting there staring at
me. A nostalgic smile was on her lips. 'It was I
who used to have to read the menu when you were
small,' she said. 'Then it's time that you relax and
let me return the favor,' I responded.
* * *
During the dinner, we had an agreeable

conversation- -nothing extraordinary but catching up
on recent events of each other's life. We talked so
much that we missed the movie.
* * *
As we arrived at her house later, she said, 'I'll
go out with you again, but only if you let me invite
You.' I agreed.
* * *
'How was your dinner date ?' asked my wife when I
Got home.
'Very nice. Much more so than I could have imagined,' I answered.
* * *
A few days later, my mother died of a massive
heart attack. It happened so suddenly that I didn't
have a chance to do anything for her.
* * *
Some time later, I received an envelope with a
copy of a restaurant receipt from the same place
mother and I had dined. An attached note said: 'I
paid this bill in advance. I wasn't sure that I
could be there; but nevertheless, I paid for two

plates - one for you and the other for your wife.
You will never know what that night meant for me. I
Love you, son.'
* * *
At that moment, I understood the importance of
saying in time: 'I LOVE YOU' and to give our loved
ones the time that they deserve. Nothing in life is
more important than your family. Give them the time
they deserve, because these things cannot be put off
till 'some other time.'

Photobucket
Somebody said it takes about six weeks to get back
to normal after you've had a baby.... somebody
doesn't know that once you're a mother,
'normal' is history.
* * *
Somebody said you learn how to be a mother by
instinct... somebody never took a three-year-old shopping.

* * *
Somebody said being a mother is boring....
somebody never rode in a car driven by a teenager with a driver's permit. Somebody said if you're a' good' mother,

your child will 'turn out good'....

somebody thinks a child comes with
Directions and a guarantee.
* * *
Somebody said you don't need an education to be a
mother.... Somebody never helped a fourth grader
With his math.
* * *
Somebody said you can't love the second child as
much as you love the first.... somebody doesn't have two children.
* * *
Somebody said the hardest part of being a mother
is labor and delivery....

somebody never watched her 'baby' get on the bus

for the first day of kindergarten ...
or on a plane headed for military 'boot camp.'
* * *
Somebody said a mother can stop worrying after her
child gets married....somebody doesn't know that
marriage adds a new son or daughter-in-law to a
mother's heartstrings.
* * *
Somebody said a mother's job is done when her last
child leaves home....somebody never had
Grandchildren.
* * *
Somebody said your mother knows you love her, so
you don't need to tell her.... somebody isn't a
Mother.

God bless you all my dear friends.

The Clothesline

Photobucket

The Clothes Line

A clothes line was a news forecast
To neighbors passing by.
There were no secrets you could keep
When clothes were hung to dry.

Photobucket

It also was a friendly link
For neighbors always knew
If company had stopped on by
To spend a night or two.

For then you'd see the 'fancy sheets'
And towels upon the line;
You'd see the 'company table cloths'
With intricate design.

Photobucket

The line announced a baby's birth
To folks who lived inside
As brand new infant clothes were hung
So carefully with pride.

The ages of the children could
So readily be known --
By watching how the sizes changed
You'd know how much they'd grown.

Photobucket

It also told when illness struck,
As extra sheets were hung;
Then nightclothes, and a bathrobe, too,
Haphazardly were strung.

It said, 'Gone on vacation now'
When lines hung limp and bare.
It told, 'We're back!' when full lines sagged
With not an inch to spare.

Photobucket

New folks in town were scorned upon
If wash was dingy gray,
As neighbors carefully raised their brows,
And looked the other way..

But clotheslines now are of the past
For dryers make work less.
Now what goes on inside a home
Is anybody's guess.

Photobucket

I really miss that way of life.
It was a friendly sign
When neighbors knew each other best
By what hung on the line!

I Believe

Photobucket

A birth certificate shows that we were born; a death certificate shows that we died; pictures show that we lived!

Have a seat . Relax. And read this slowly.

I believe - That just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other.
And just because they don't argue, it doesn't mean they do.

I believe - That we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change.

I believe - That no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.

I believe - That true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. Same goes for true love.

I believe - That you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.

I believe - That it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.

I believe - That you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them.

I believe - That you can keep going long after you think you can't.

I believe - That we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.

I believe - That either you control your attitude or it controls you.

I believe - That heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

I believe - That money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I believe - That sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down will be the ones to help you get back up.

I believe - That sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

I believe - That maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.

I believe - That it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.

I believe - That no matter how bad your heart is broken, the world doesn't stop for your grief.

I believe - That our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.

I believe - Two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.

I believe - That your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you.

I believe - That even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you - you will find the strength to help.

I believe - That credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.

I believe - That the people you care about most in life are taken from you too soon.

I believe - That you should send this to all of the people that you believe in. I just did.

The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
they just make the best of everything they have.

Every action you take is a seed you sow, and every seed you sow is a harvest you'll reap.

PUPPY SIZE

Photobucket

Puppy Size

This is one of the neatest stories you will ever hear.  You will know
precisely what this little girl is talking about at the end, you'll
want to share this one with your loved ones and special friends.

Photobucket
'Danielle keeps repeating it over and over again.  We've been back to
this animal shelter at least five times. It has been weeks now since
we started all of this,' the mother told the volunteer.

'What is it she keeps asking for?' the volunteer asked.
'Puppy size!' replied the mother.

Photobucket
'Well, we have plenty of puppies, if that's what she's looking for.'
'I know... we have seen most of them,' the mom said in frustration...
Just then Danielle came walking into the office.
'Well, did you find one?' asked her mom.  'No, not this time,'
Danielle said with sadness in her voice.  'Can we come back on the
weekend?' The two women looked at each other, shook their heads

 and laughed.
Photobucket
'You never know when we will get more dogs.  Unfortunately, there's
always a supply,' the volunteer said.
Danielle took her mother by the hand and headed to the door.  'Don't
worry, I'll find one this weekend,' she said.

Over the next few days both Mom and Dad had long conversations with her.
They both felt she was being too particular.  'It's this weekend or
we're not looking any more,' Dad finally said in frustration.
'We don't want to hear anything more about puppy size, either,' Mom added.
Photobucket
Sure enough, they were the first ones in the shelter on Saturday
morning.  By now Danielle knew her way around, so she ran right for the
section that housed the smaller dogs.
Tired of the routine, mom sat in the small waiting room at the end of
the first row of cages.  There was an observation window so you could
see the animals during times when visitors weren't permitted.
Photobucket
Danielle walked slowly from cage to cage, kneeling periodically to
take a closer look.  One by one the dogs were brought out and she held
each one. One by one she said, 'Sorry, but you're not the one.'
It was the last cage on this last day in search of the perfect pup.
The volunteer opened the cage door and the child carefully picked up
the dog and held it closely.  This time she took a little longer.
'Mom, that's it!  I found the right puppy!  He's the one!  I know it!'
Photobucket
She screamed with joy.  'It's the puppy size!'
'But it's the same size as all the other puppies you held over the
last few weeks,' Mom said. 'No not size...  The sighs.

 When I held him in my arms, he sighed,' she said.

 Photobucket
'Don't you remember?   When I asked you one day what love is, you told
me love depends on the sighs of your heart.  The more you love, the
bigger the sigh!' The two women looked at each other for a
moment.  Mom didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
As she stooped down to hug the child, she did
a little of both.

'Mom, every time you hold me, I sigh.  When you and Daddy come home
from work and hug each other, you both sigh.  I knew I would find the
right puppy if it sighed when I held it in my arms,' she said.

Then, holding the puppy up close to her face, she said, 'Mom, he loves
me.  I heard the sighs of his heart!'

=================================================
Close your eyes for a moment and think about the love that makes you
sigh.  I not only find it in the arms of my loved ones, but in the
caress of a sunset, the kiss of the moonlight and the gentle brush of
cool air on a hot day.

They are the sighs of God .   Take the time to stop and listen; you will
be surprised at what you hear.  'Life is not measured by the breaths we
take, but by the moments that take our breath away.'

Hope your life is filled with Sighs!!!

Something About Me

Photobucket

I received the above picture from a friend French Geri and it was so lovely I had to use it. Click on the picture to visit her but ask first if you wish to become a friend. Don't just invite her without asking, I thank you for that.

Well this will be a blog about me and my day. Something I know I am not used to sharing. Excuse my mistakes if I make any and for my rambling which I have been known to do a time or two. I am just a retired woman whose main job is to look after my husband and believe me I think I have been earning my keep lately with my husband having health issues. The last two months haven't been easy for either one of us but we have managed to keep our heads above water and I claim because of my faith in God He has helped me deal with it. But also my many friends on spaces here who drop by with a gift or a word of encouragement or something to make me laugh. It has meant so much to me to hear from each and every one of you and you know who you are. Sometimes my heart is heavy and I have only to come on here and read a comment to put me in a better frame of mind and get me through the day. For that God bless you and thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Today has been a beautiful day and the temps went up tp 75 F or 22c for us Canadians. I had barbecued shish-ka-bobs of pork for supper and they were great and where I like to have wine with supper it has kind of given me a loose tongue so to speak so here I am yakking my head off at ya. I lead a very hum drum kind of life compared to some on here who can talk on just about everything. I get up every morning and come on here to see my emails check who has visited my space and left me a comment. Have a coffee, read some of the newspaper while waiting for my hubby to wake up and after he does, I get him ready for the day. Because the prostate cancer left him with a Soprapubic Catheter(Catheter in through the belly to the bladder)  I usually have to put his leg bag on and every other day I change the dressing on the Stoma (opening for the catheter) That is routine now but lately he has had his first bad infection and it has been hard on him and I also have to watch his diet as he has failing kidneys that can't get rid of certain things in his body like potassium and phospherus. If they get too high it can effect his heart and he has already had by-pass surgery in 2001 so I don't want anything like that to happen again.

For fun I go bowling on Tuesdays and we go out with friends to dinner at our Legion on Tuesday nights and on Friday nights for fish fry. I make my own wine from a kit at a local Wine Kitz place and matter of fact I was there on Saturday to put on some Raspberry Zinfandel, my fav. Right now I am having some Black Cherry. In the summer when we travel and go camping with our trailer, there is nothing I like better then to sit and relax with a glass of wine and read whatever book I happen to be reading under the awning.

I have a sister who lives here in Windsor about eight blocks from me and a brother who is a butcher for A&P. That is a supermarket. I have one brother who is an engineer for a company that makes the introvenous supplies for all across the country and diabetic supplies too. He went back to university when he was in his late thirties and early forties to learn to be an engineer and I am just so proud of him for how far he has come. He only has the use of one eye so that made it all that much more special. I have another brother who used to work at a place where they built big machines and sent them all over North America but he got hurt at work and is now on disability but he still likes to tinker in stuff when he has a good day. He is a granddad now and is loving every minute of it. I have another brother who works in an office for the oil rigs in the Irish Sea.

I have three children, two daughters and a son who all live in Ontario. My hubby has two daughters and a son. One daughter is in the Air Force, one lives here in Windsor and so does his son. Between us we have seven grandchildren, the oldest being 23 and the youngest being 10. Our one grandson is in a wheelchair due to an accident he was in 8 years ago. He ran out between two parked cars and was hit by a car and from that day he has never been able to talk. His eyes are very expressive but that is about it. He has nurses 14-7, during the night he is under his Mom's care. He will be 17 on Christmas Day this year.

There you have it, a little bit about my life and family. I am usually a happy go lucky sort of person but like everyone I have a bad day every now and then. My show Dancing With The Stars is on now so I am off to watch it. Have a good evening y'all and remember I love ya.

Rain Sizes

Rain comes in various sizes.
Some rain is as small as a mist.
It tickles your face with surprises,
And tingles as if you'd been kissed.
